LILY.
Balanced elegance of lightness. LILY is a three-piece range of candle holders for the Danish manufacturer Bolia. A slim strip of steel bent into a three-dimensional shape characterises the design – inspired by nature. With the LILY candle holder, we created a design that looks equally at home on elegantly set restaurant tables as in cosy living areas. The polished stainless-steel version emphasises a festive, luxurious ambience, while the brushed version of LILY is a little more subtle.

The door handle’s stylistic idiom is inspired by architecture with simple, pure and geometric shapes. This handle was designed to feature two contrasting materials, one of which is marble. The handle´s origins lie in a workshop organised by the longstanding German porcelain company Kober. Technology was reduced to a bare minimum. Drawn brass was first combined with extruded porcelain, and then marble. The two are united in a way that flatters each constituent part. The interaction of simple geometrical brass surfaces and cylindrical shapes blends functionality with timeless aesthetics.

BAU has been officially listed in the Olivari product catalogue since Salone 2023, and Studio Niruk has become part of the Olivari roster of designers. With the start of the new year and the German Design Award 2024, Olivari is now also launching BAU on the German-speaking markets.

Lunaria.
Elegant, natural, pure. LUNARIA is not just a luminaire – it is a luminous object. Unique in its free form, it is both sculptural and light. The special shape of LUNARIA was created from a single piece of cane and, in the course of the design process, developed into a bent metal frame. Covered with a delicate fabric, it creates differently shaped surfaces, gently diffusing the light through space. LUNARIA is a shape-shifter, appearing, depending on the viewing angle, in different forms.The luminaire‘s namesake is the plant of the same name: Lunaria, also known as silver leaf. The iridescent shapes of the seed pod can be found in the luminaire’s unique silhouette. The focus was on durability: the fabric is not only OekoTex certified, but also removable and washable. The fabric and the metal frame come flat-packed to avoid unnecessary packaging waste and to save resources.

Elephant, hippo, owl. For porcelain specialist KOBER we revived the legendary FUNNIES. A redesign based on the 1970s originals, these little animals are made of pure white porcelain with black or platinum contrasts and are created from a strand of porcelain. Similar to a certain type of biscuit dough, the porcelain is pressed through a tool and then cut into pieces. A specially made metal tool is available for the production of each little animal – all the tools are originals from the initial production phase and are now in use again. Our interpretation has given the FUNNIES a contemporary appearance, while retaining their characteristic shapes.

Surface. Floor. Wall panelling. CORCRETE is developed as a very special material for interior design. A symbiosis of elements: soft meets hard, flexible meets rigid. CORCRETE is a composite of natural cork and cool concrete. The texture is warm and pleasant to the touch. CORCRETE is durable, resilient and versatile. Properties that inspired us to use the material in furniture design. Alongside a stool, the studio has created a sofa table and a sideboard. On request, CORCRETE is also available in tile format and in customised designs. We are open for joint projects with manufacturers and for conceptual advancement of the material. Currently, CORCRETE is available in three colours: white, grey and black.

CORCRETE is a composite of natural cork and cool concrete. The texture is warm and pleasant to the touch. CORCRETE is durable, resilient and versatile. Compared to conventional concrete materials, CORCRETE is around 40 percent lighter thanks to the addition of cork granulate from Portuguese cork production; in addition, much less sand, an increasingly scarce resource, is needed in the production process. CORCRETE is produced in white, black and grey. There are no standard dimensions – because every CORCRETE project is unique and is planned and implemented exclusively for and with the client.
